4. Is a Dispatch Academy Certificate valid forever or is there an expiration date or re-certification needed?
This may vary from state to state. Most employers will hire you first and actually pay you to attend any training or certification classes. Ask your potential employer what the training process is like. Quite often there are regional police academies that take the responsibility for initial training. If you get the opportunity to attend such an academy, make a great first impression. The Staff and Instructors at the regional training center or academy will likely know your boss. If you do something unethical or inappropriate during initial training, it will get back to your agency or supervisor!
